Fashion: Pattern. Day One

We've been given our brief and it has to do with the urban environment and our own environment. So we create patterns from urban and/or environmental objects like manholes, tree bark, baskets, rust, paving, etc.

What to do for Monday: Use your immediate environment to source and photograph relevant imagery. College buildings and grounds, playground, etc.. Photography, sketching, collage, rubbings. You will be expected to bring a body of imagery to class with you. Group tutorial to discuss initial ideas and possible directions/developments. Fabric manipulation techniques.

So I was wandering around Limerick and my house wondering what I would like to base my project on. I took a few photographs...maybe got a little trigger happy...and my conclusion?? Very linear urban geometric objects.

In Penneys I went through the shoe area and wondered what kind of patterns would be underneath the shoes so I did that and was instantly inspired to create using those marking and any markings under any shoes.

I also did a bit of experimenting today with fabric and manipulating it a tiny tiny bit.

Here are my images...from inspiration to experimentation.

P.S
This is very unrelated and off topic but I'm just so excited about it... I went to see The Wanted on Friday night....it was AMAZING!!
